So, in the middle of everything today, we ran across a hellaciously distressed momma mallard and a bunch of her baby ducks that had fallen down a sewer grate. Another guy was already trying to fish them out, so my friend and I called animal control before we tried to fish the rest of them out. When Animal Control got there, we had all of them out and the mother duck quacking very happily. I was surprised - none of us got snapped at or hurt. I was even holding onto a bag at one point that had all of them in it and she just watched me.

I love how pleased the momma duck looks in the pic where she’s standing on the dude. Like, “He’s savin’ my babies!”

What’s Kim Jong Un’s boy doing in Beijing? Good question.

North Korean state media announced the departure on Wednesday of one Vice Marshal Choe Ryong Hae for China. Not only is this the first special envoy that Kim Jong Un has sent anywhere, but the visit also marks the first of its kind since North Korea began this latest round of militaristic bluster. In other words, long overdue.

Choe Ryong Hae is also a top military advisor to Kim Jong Un, and probably the most high-profile envoy the leader of the rogue state could have chosen for such a visit.

So, what are they going to talk about? Oh, y’know, probably North Korea’s recent missile launches and the hijacking of a Chinese boat by North Korean sailors. China has historically been the only country to have any sway in telling North Korea what to do, though that doesn’t seem to be the case so much right now.

Honestly, this scene made me feel choked up, because Azula obviously craved her Mother’s love, like Zuko had, but because she was so much more taken under her Father’s ‘wing’ as it were, she became a twisted version of who she would have been.

And this scene. This fucking scene.

Just take a step back and think:

Her Mother is a hallucination here.

Azula is bitterly saying ‘Even you fear me.’ And back at Ember Island, you learn that, even though she was a tiny terror, she was hurt because her Mother was scared of her.

And the one thing that breaks Azula is the fact that a part of her knows exactly what her Mother would say. And she’d tell her she loves her.

And she wouldn’t be angry, or disappointed. She’d be sad.

Anyway, no, it doesn’t clash with the rape argument, because the two scenarios are completely non-analogous. With rape, there is only one party with the potential to be harmed: the victim. With abortion, there are two parties: both the woman carrying and her developing child. The decision to have sex is not the decision to have a child, and by taking away the carrier’s right to choose the latter, one is being permissive of and an apologist for the act of stripping humans of their basic rights to their bodies and the direction of their lives.

I’d also like to point out that being pro-choice dos NOT imply being “pro-abortion”, which is how the term is always used by those who are pro-life. Being pro-choice opens up many tricky doors of responsibility of acknowledgement, such as determining the point where it actually does become inhumane to terminate a developing fetus.

Even though I think suicide is wrong & those people should be helped there isn’t much to say about assisted suicide. If someone wants to die they will. I don’t consider that murder but thats a touchy subject. Anyways. Yes it does clash with rape, rape is wrong no matter what but if you say, “just because she doesn’t say no doesn’t mean its ok,” is wrong then put it in terms with a fetus & say that’s ok. No thats wrong lol. Its like a double standard. we all know fetuses can’t talk.Sex isn’t consent to having children, unprotected sex is. Among other things(I can’t stress that enough, pregnancy isn’t the only or the worst thing that comes from sex). There are ways to prevent pregnancy, yes accidents happen but thats not an excuse to be irresponsible. Pro-Choice is about choices & having abortion as a choice. And so yeah that does include being pro-abortion. I don’t get how people can say, a ‘fetus’ with a heartbeat isn’t human until it hits a certain point. If we’re determining when life starts how long until we have people determining when it ends? There are people in comas for 5-10 years that later wake up. Are they any less human because their dependent on other people & machines. Abortion is a door-opener. Once we start defining when life begins we will try to define when it ends.

A)

You don’t understand how depression and suicidal urges work. At all. None of you ever do.

B) Don’t compare things that can’t be compared (i.e. rape and abortion.). It is completely nonsensical to say that a fetus can’t give permission to be terminated and use that as “proof” that abortion is wrong, because even if a fetus were biologically developed enough to utilize vocalization it would have no concept of language.

C) Being human and being a person are two different things. I’ll discuss that later in this post.

D) If the existence of this fetus will be a detriment to the fully formed person who is carrying it, and essentially ruin their life, terminating said fetus when it is still possible to do so humanely (the stage in development where it cannot feel pain) would be, potentially, best for all parties involved. Yes, ALL parties. INCLUDING the fetus. Because either it would have to enter into a life where it was unwanted/ would not have adequate quality of care, or it would be given up for adoption/foster care, which opens the door for a whole other host of terrible social and emotional issues. By providing the ability for the woman carrying this fetus to choose how to proceed, we are allowing that woman to analyze her situation and determine whether carrying the baby to term would be wise, given the resources available to her once said baby is born.

The fetus is a human in development, but it is not a person. It has not gained life experiences. It has not made an impact on the world, nor on the people in the world by whom it would be surrounded if it were carried to term. Terminating it would be equivalent to breaking a chicken’s egg in the early stages of hatching. If the fetus is at a point in development where it can feel its termination, then that is not humane and should not be allowed. But if its being carried through to term would be a detriment both to the carrier, to the people in the carrier’s life, and, just as importantly, the life of the fetus/developing human itself.

E) Lastly, nothing about being pro-choice is being pro-abortion. It is simply acknowledging the practice as an option and allowing people to make a decision to utilize that option. In no way is being pro-choice the actual PROMOTION of abortion. We’re not going around telling everyone to get abortions.

peebles teach me how to be you

can we just talk about this for a minute

because seriously i have so much respect for the adventure time team. they’ve made a successful cartoon that isn’t random poop and fart jokes for a solid eleven minutes. sure, adventure time has its immature moments, but then there’s parts like this.

pb’s backed up against the wall in a position that’s way too common in today’s society. you can tell she’s scared and uncomfortable. so what does she do? she beats the shit out of ricardio.

she doesn’t “play nice”, she doesn’t “let him down gently”, she tears off his limbs and stomps on his face. then ricardio tries to play the nice guy card and she has none of it. it’s refreshing to see something aimed at children that doesn’t state that girls need to be polite and sweet and stand by while someone makes them uncomfortable.

basically, i love this show and i love how it teaches girls something that’ll actually come in handy some day. god fucking bless.

And let’s not forget, this isn’t a one time thing. There’s an episode later in the series where Ice King won’t leave her along and she fucking shoots him. Granted, its with a tranquilizer but still. She tells him exactly one time to back off, and when he doesn’t, she does not even hesitate to put him down. This is why Peebs will forever be my favorite. She doesn’t put up with it, and she tells little girls that they don’t need to put up with it either.

I fucking love Peebles. She’s pretty badass all the time.
